August 13, 2008 Ms Janie, I must say I stopped reading your "ROAD TRIP" article for the August issue. I just starting laughing so hard I was crying. The first paragraph and the first sentence on the second paragraph is where you got me. Anyone that knows Cindy Carlton most likely had the same reaction. Did you know that she calls herself "Cindy Black Cloud"? When I saw that I just knew that she had broke down somewhere and didn't share that part of her trip with me. I have known Cindy for a long time and if she would have told me something like that I would not have been surprised. I had to call her to make sure she didn't leave anything out, HA HA. Anyways, I did read the rest of your article. With the high rising prices of things today, it is really sad when businesses find the need to price gouge. I would hope that the NHSRA can work on those issues for their members at the National Finals. A LOT of us parents really crunch the money just for our kids to compete at the state level. But to compete at the National level with the cost of traveling and missing work, it really is unfair and unprofessional for businesses to take advantage.
Good job on the article! Cheri Scharfenstine Florida
Dear Cheri, Thanks for the letter. The Carlton family was awesome. So much fun!! There was quite a bit of laughing going on from Ocala to Farmington. I actually would like to thank Cindy for hauling Kirsten's horse at the last minute, as he was supposed to have left earlier in the week but was injured. Thanks again, Janie
